Contractions & Negatives
Greek Prefixes: -amphi, -anti
Story Structure: Conflict/Resolution
Social Studies:
We are finished with our "Lost Colony" opinion writing piece. I had SO much fun teaching this and watching the students get excited to share what they think happened to the colonists!
We will be focusing on "Settling the Piedmont" this week.
How you can help at home:
Ask your child questions (like the ones listed below) as he/she reads books on their level (AR books)
TESTS:
Reading and Spelling - Friday
**Students should be taking AT LEAST 2 AR tests a week!
I have started something new for AR called "FUN LUNCH." Each week, students will either have "Fun Lunch, Regular Lunch, or AR Lunch." If a student makes a 90% or higher on 2 or more AR tests each week, he/she will have lunch with me in my classroom with a special treat that Friday! If they make 70% - 80% on their tests for the week they have regular lunch in the cafeteria that Friday. If a student fails tests throughout the week or doesn't take any tests, they will get AR silent lunch that Friday. I have also assigned AR patrols (students who are doing extremely will with AR) to students who are struggling with not reading enough or not doing well on their AR tests.
